Briefly about our history

  • 1933Foundation

    Afridana A/S was founded in Copenhagen on 23 September 1933 and was originally called Home and Colonial Trading Co. Joint stock company. In 1935, the name was changed to Afridana A/S.

  • At that time, the company's trade goods were mainly sourced from Africa, from where there were large imports of, among other things, oil-containing cotton seeds, which, after pressing in Denmark, were used for the production of foodstuffs or sold for household use.

  • 1950Metal casting & electronics

    In the 1950s, metal casting and the production of electronics were booming and Afridana established cooperation with Junker GmbH, IKO GmbH (today S&B Industrial Minerals GmbH) and Richard Anton GmbH on the distribution of melting furnaces, bentonite and coal as well as carbonizing graphite and coke for the foundry industry.

  • In the electronics industry and within metal pressing, cooperation is established with Acheson BV in the Netherlands. This company exists today under the name Henkel Electronics Materials NV. What they all have in common is that the collaboration has spanned more than 50 years with constant development and renewal of technology and product range.

  • 1970-nuEnvironmental awareness

    As environmental awareness grew and it was discovered that the discharge of contaminated waste water was not a long-term solution, in the 1970s the company began to focus on the environment and water treatment, so that this is today the company's largest business area.​​
