Nanocarbon
Nanocarbon® is dosed directly into the biological treatment stage, where even small additions optimise the operation and effectively remove environmental contaminants, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, and AOX.
The product's large active surface area has, after sufficient mixing and contact time, a great effect on the sludge's structure and settling properties.
The sludge's structure leads to good growth conditions and increased oxygen uptake. The degree of oxygenation during biological purification can therefore be reduced without a negative impact on the purification capacity. Furthermore, the amount of suspended solids, phosphate, and bacterial count in the effluent water is reduced.
The improved settling properties lead to optimised operation of the secondary clarifiers and a reduced polymer consumption during sludge dewatering.
Nanocarbon® therefore provides good opportunities for operational savings.
The product's large relative surface area and adsorption capacity lead to the effective removal of microplastics, pharmaceutical residues, and other environmental contaminants. For the safe disposal of the aforementioned micropollutants, Nanocarbon® can advantageously be combined with anaerobic digestion and subsequent incineration of the final dewatered sludge.
Nanocarbon® is therefore a cost-effective alternative to conventional tertiary treatment technologies. The product does not require any investment in new structures, as it is dosed directly into the existing wastewater treatment plant.
